HELPING PEOPLE IS OUR BUSINESS

We are committed to creating a safe, responsive, and supportive environment for all members of our community. This page serves as a space where individuals can voice concerns, report issues, or request referrals for services and resources. Whether you're seeking assistance, advocating for someone else, or looking to share feedback that can help us grow, your voice matters here. All submissions are treated with respect, confidentiality, and care, as we work together to ensure accountability, fairness, and access to the support you need.

OUR VISION

OUR MISSION

The mission of the King Center covers a wide variety of important activities that encompasses the many issues that affect the quality of life of those individuals that the King Center serves. First, it must be noted that the King Center operates as an open-door agency of last resort for those individuals with problems that agencies and elected officials have been unable to assist.

The King Center charges no fees for its services and referrals do not end the relationship with the King Center. There is an extensive follow-up, as needed, to insure that the issue and needs of the individual client seeking help are afforded appropriately. Many of the King Center's activities are centered around families that are having a crisis and issues that are unresolved. The King Center shares community resources with clients through emails, telephone calls and social media.

PRACTICE AREAS

Our Programs

KING CENTER PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
At The King Center, we are committed to providing comprehensive support services to families and individuals, in need of our assistance, in several critical areas. We offer housing guidance and resources as enrolled participants of the Stability Housing Program, to help individuals and families experiencing a financial hardship as well as assist clients in addressing landlord-tenant issues, offering support and guidance to ensure fair treatment and a positive resolution of disputes. Our team works diligently to connect clients with available housing options and to navigate any barriers they may face. We help clients access utility assistance programs and provide emergency support as well when necessary. We also strive to protect the rights and well-being of our Senior Citizens by providing resources and information helping them navigate through any challenges they may encounter. Our new transportation program will help seniors and community members reach critical medical appointments and acquire essential needs, ensuring they do not face barriers to their health and well-being.

CITIZENS OF THE FUTURE
Citizens of the future is a program aimed towards youth between grades 7 through 12 and adults in the state of Delaware. This program will be classes, courses and training sessions which teach youth and adults how to invest into crypto currency, stock trading, day trading, money management, risk management, & various other ways to generate a passive income for themselves, setting them up for a successful future in investing & providing them with insight on the future of finance and where it is headed. This program will be hosted by Corey Burris, Jr. and Devin Pulliam who have gained great insight through training and personal experience on finance/ investing. We are passionate about teaching our community the opportunities that exist but might not be common knowledge to the average person and want to help kids and adults of the community learn a new skill that could help them make more educated decisions while investing, how to go about the importance of this skill and how it will be very beneficial and set them up for the future.

TRANSPORTATION SERVICE

The King Center Transportation Service will allow us to help with transporting Seniors and the Elderly to and from critical appointments through partnering with local churches, senior centers and other organizations. Our Senior citizens and elderly population rely heavily on public transportation to access critical medical appointments, grocery shopping, and participation in senior day programs.

Unfortunately, our current Paratransit services are overwhelmed, primarily serving the disabled population, which significantly limits the availability of transportation options for seniors. While the DART Paratransit system is committed to adhering to the Americans with Disabilities Act, this compliance has resulted in a severe shortage of available space for our seniors, leaving many without the necessary means to attend their essential appointments and engage in social activities. The lack of reliable transportation not only impacts the health and well-being of our seniors but also contributes to social isolation and decreased quality of life. With our transportation service, we will help to fill the void in this matter.
